Lightning McQueen is a hotshot rookie race car. When the high-octane contest to win the Piston Cup ends in a three-way tie, McQueen jumps on the road towards California where a tie-breaking race will determine the ultimate winner. En route he gets separated from his driver. Alone, he struggles to find the route and tears through the forgotten town of Radiator Springs, demolishing the town's main street in the process. With the race just days away, McQueen is arrested but this unplanned detour into sleepy, old Radiator Springs introduces him to a life beyond trophies and fame, before he discovers what it takes to be a true champion.
